It’s the most wonderful time of the year and for many of us, this means housing parties, family members who travel to town, and lots of festive decorations. The fun of the holiday season can be exciting for everyone, and that includes our pets, but it can also be a bit troubling. Something as simple as a table scrap, or pine needle that fell off of that real Christmas tree in your living room can be poisonous for your animals.
This doesn’t mean that you need to reschedule your party plans, rent out a hall in your local town for your guests instead, or that you can’t treat your pets to something sweet this season; you just have to be careful doing so.
We have pets at home this holiday season and are sure that many of you do too, so we talked to Animal Planet’s Dan Schachner about tips to take to keep your pets safe this holiday season, what to take if you’re traveling with them, and where to go if gifting a pet is on your Christmas List (be sure that you make sure they can take the responsibility, first).
Dan made sharing the holiday season with our pets seem easier than ever and made some good points about traveling with a couple toys (not the whole basket full), getting booties for your animals if your state gets colder than most, and making sure you bring identification for your pets when you travel.
