Here at CelebMix, we love introducing our readers to new, up and coming talent. In this article, we introduce you to Iselin, originally from Norway.
After providing the vocals for Alan Walker hits ‘Faded’ and ‘Sing Me To Sleep’, Iselin went on to release her debut single ‘Bathtub’ earlier this year and has recently released her phenomenal second single, titled ‘Lost,’ additionally releasing an acoustic version of the track.
Her new single is extremely captivating and is lyrically very honest. With her music, Iselin continually strives to create music that her listeners can relate to.
The track provides her with the opportunity to showcase her incredible vocals and maintains a catchy, up-beat rhythm throughout.
“I think and hope the song speaks for itself, but mainly it’s about letting go of something that meant a lot to you and how it affects you in so many ways when you know that part of your life is over.”
Here at CelebMix, we had the opportunity to exclusively speak with Iselin about her new single, her musical influences and more. Keep reading to check out our interview with her!
What does your new single ‘Lost’ represent to you?
“‘Lost’ is probably the most honest and emotional songs I’ve ever written and the song means a lot to me. I wrote it with two amazing song-writers – Madelen Eliasson and Fanny Hultman and it was a very special day in the studio, I’d say. We started with another song and needed a break from it and then Madelen picked up the guitar and played some really nice chords that matched a feeling I had. I guess I had a story that I had not been able to write earlier, because it felt too close to me. But with them, the pieces just fell into place and it kind of felt like the song wrote itself. That doesn’t happen all the time. I hope that those who have felt a bit lost in life in one way or another can relate to it.”
‘Lost’ represents your second solo release. How does it feel to have your own music released?
“It feels really good to finally release my music, but also strange in a way, just because I’ve been in the studio for a while and the songs I have released and the songs that are coming out in the near future, have been on my laptop for a while. It’s a bit scary because it means so much and you never know what to expect. But I’m so grateful for all the nice messages I’ve received. That’s a big motivation and inspires me to continue and make more music.”
What is your favourite lyric from the track?
“Try to tame my wandering heart, breaking up is meant for the arts, think I’ll fill your space with a place less shattered, moving on is all that I’ve got.”
Who are your musical influences?
“Many of my favourite artists are actually from the UK! I love Imogen Heap, for example. Her lyrics are so unique I think and have inspired me a lot. I’m also a big fan of her first project Frou Frou and other artists like Ben Howard, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Ellie Goulding and Rae Morris. Bon Iver and Robyn are also two favourites!”
Have you any further music releases planned in the coming months – potentially an EP/album?
“Yes, more music is just around the corner! I have a new single that comes out in November and I’m really excited about that one. I also want to release an EP, but that will happen in 2019.”
Finally, do you have a message for your supporters?
“I’m so grateful for all the support and I hope you’ll like the new songs that I’m going to release pretty soon. I can’t wait to share my music with you live! I’ll post on my social media pages when new things are happening.”
