On Saturday, the first ever HelloWorld! Live took place at Birmingham’s Genting Arena. The event was an “immersive live experience” which brought all elements of YouTube to life, and featured a whole host of your favourite creators.
During the day, we had the opportunity to catch up with some of your favourite YouTubers. Here’s what fashion twins Lucy & Lydia, and food and travel vlogger Katie Pix had to say about HelloWorld and beyond.
Lucy & Lydia
Identical twins Lucy & Lydia Connell are best known for their beauty and fashion videos. They also do the most amazing ‘Get The Look’ videos which sees them recreating scenes and looks from some of our favourite music videos. With their infectious personalities, it’s hard not to have a soft spot for these two.
On their HelloWorld involvement
We’re very excited! We’ve been up early but we’re on a real high at the moment and so excited for the show. We’re taking over MTV’s Snapchat, we’re doing a couple of things with Oli White today, a few things on stage with Saffron [Barker], Jack [Maynard], Josh [Pieters] and we’re also doing the show! Ooh and the Bakery, we’re going to be decorating cakes! Me and Lucy, our artistic skills are useless. Well we are artistic but not on a cake! So we’ll have to see how that goes, it should be okay!
On their style icons
Mine at the moment is Camila Cabello. She has been wearing some amazing things at the moment. Those hats she’s been wearing, I bought one the other day, the red hat! Selena Gomez too!
On their personal highlight of 2017
Probably working with Disney! It’s like a dream isn’t it? They’re a dream brand we’ve always wanted to work with. When we tell our friends back home that we’re working with Disney, they’re like “are you serious?!”. We’ve been able to travel so much this year, and we’re going to Mexico with Disney on Monday to promote their new film.

The lovely Katie Pix is predominantly a food vlogger. However, when she’s not making us hungry with her recipes, she’s making us smile with her vlogs which include travel and lifestyle content. Katie is such a down-to-earth, genuine sweetheart and that truly comes across in her videos.
It’s been absolute madness, it’s brilliant. I just love that it’s how it’s come together, obviously we’ve talked about it for a long time so seeing it actually come to life is amazing. I’ll be doing a lot of baking! I will be with Juliet Sears in the baking tent doing a no arms cake decorating challenge with Zoella and doing some cake decorating with Juliet as well so I’ll very much be in my element doing my baking.
On her favourite travel destination
I went to Copenhagen and it was extraordinary. The people were amazing and we went at a very autumnal time of year so it was beautiful. I went with a group of friends, it was our first kind of holiday together, and it couldn’t have been a better city break for us. Copenhagen is definitely up there as one of my favourite places.
Advice for budding YouTubers
The beauty of YouTube is that if you’re passionate about something, you can do anything you want. I think the key is to stick at it so rather than trying to [be something you’re not], I went through a phase of doing all the challenges and trying to join all the viral stuff on YouTube but it just didn’t work for me as it’s not what I do, it’s not who I am. I would say, find your passion and if you really genuinely love it then it will show!
