Here at CelebMix, we love introducing our readers to new, up and coming talent. In this particular article, we introduce you to Amy Lawton.
The critically acclaimed singer and song-writer has recently released her new single ‘Don’t Bring Louise,’ a guitar-driven track which captures unrequited love and features her beautiful vocals.
“‘I started writing the song when I heard her name (Louise) for the first time. I’d never met her, but as soon as I heard her name, I started building a picture of her and the lyrics started to form in my head. It’s about a feeling that gets reignited the first time you hear that the other person has moved on, even if you thought you were over it.”
The release of ‘Don’t Bring Louise’ follows on from previous singles ‘Hurts Like Paradise’ and ‘Undone.’
In addition to the release of her original music, in 2018, she completed her debut headline nineteen-date tour around the UK.
Here at CelebMix, we exclusively spoke with Amy Lawton regarding her new single ‘Don’t Bring Louise,’ her musical influences, her plans for 2019 and more.
What was the main inspiration for writing ‘Don’t Bring Louise’?
“‘Don’t Bring Louise’ is a true story. The inspiration to write it came when I heard that my ex was dating a new girl called Louise. I wanted to write a song with her name in because that was what really stuck in my head and I knew nothing else about her.”
Who are your musical influences?
“Musically I am heavily influenced by female singer/song-writers that tell stories in their lyrics. People like Carol King, Joni Mitchell and Kacey Musgraves inspire me a lot to write about my own life.”
Was there ever a defining moment for you whereby you knew that music was something you wanted to pursue?
“At first I started playing the guitar and writing songs just for fun and I never thought I’d do anything serious with them. But when I started playing my songs to friends and family, their response and encouragement made me think it was something I could do.”
What are your plans music-wise for 2019?
“This year I’m hoping to release as much music as I can and my aim is to reach more people than I did last year. I’m also planning on taking my first trip to Nashville this year!”
Finally, do you have a message for everyone who’s listened to the track so far and for your supporters?
“I would like to say thank you to everyone that’s listened to my songs so far and supported me. There is so much new music out there so for someone to take the time to listen to mine means a lot! I hope that you’ll like what I release next.”
With her bringing a fresh sound to the music industry, no doubt 2019 is set to be an incredibly exciting year for Amy Lawton and we can’t wait to hear even more from her in the coming months!
