Christmas just got whole lot scarier!
The newest instalment of Christmas scare comes in the form of A Christmas Horror Story, a small but delightful film that received a small cinematic release, and can now be bought on Amazon.
The film is an anthology of tales that intertwine in order to tell the stories of myth and magic that surrounds Christmas, all with a dark and sinister twist.
The stories of two families, a group of friends, and even Santa are brought together by radio host William Shatner. Their ordinary looking Christmas eves soon take a different route as each story unravels.
We start with a group of friends that have set out to investigate the horrors of a brutal, and still unsolved murder from the previous year, after sneaking into the scene of the crime they soon find themselves in trouble. A plot fit for any horror film.
It is here we meet an officer that this year takes his family out into the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree, but they wander into the wrong woods. On returning home it becomes clear something isn’t right.
We then find ourselves introduced to the unhappiest of families, on their way to visit an old aunt. Secrets are reviled as the family come face to face with the lesser known Christmas figure Krampus.
As Krampus and Santa come face to face for a final show down, it comes apparent that Santas story is not all that it seems.
This is a fun, alternative Christmas film, with a few scares and a couple of slightly disturbing scenes. With zombie elves, scary kids and a bad ass Santa, it fits perfectly for a day when you have had a little to much Christmas but still want to feel festive.
