Today we are celebrating fifteen years since Girls Aloud were formed on the talent contest Popstars The Rivals. The group consisting of Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, and Sarah Harding went on to achieve four UK number 1 singles, 21 top-ten singles, two number 1 albums and also won a Brit award in 2009.
Along with massive chart success selling millions around the world and winning countless awards they also sold out arena tours during their time together making them the most successful girl-band of the twenty-first century. The band split in 2009 with the girls launching solo careers with varying success – Cheryl has gone on to become a household name with a record amount of UK number 1’s, while Nadine Coyle failed to chart, but together they are a formidable force. In 2013 they reformed for a sold-out tour before parting ways for good.
