Following a surprise performance at The BRIT Awards, The Chainsmokers and Coldplay have released a new single called ‘Something Just Like This’.

News of this collaboration first surfaced back in September, when The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall and Drew Taggart shared song snippets featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin on social media. Since then, we have been patiently waiting for this highly anticipated collab.

Earlier today, the track title, ‘Something Just Like This’, and artwork was shared on Spotify, with further rumours that the song might be debuted at The BRITs tonight. The latter was indeed true, and we were treated to a colourful performance live from London’s O2 Arena.

Whilst we wouldn’t think to associate The Chainsmokers with Coldplay, it’s a collaboration that works perfectly. ‘Something Just Like This’ is a dreamy synth-laden track with cute lyrics which are guaranteed to melt the toughest of hearts, and get you bopping on the nearest dancefloor.

“I’m not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, some superhero, some fairytale bliss
Just something I can turn to, somebody I can kiss, I want something just like this.”

Having dominated the charts with their Halsey collab ‘Closer’ last year, we’re predicting that The Chainsmokers x Coldplay will be even more successful.

Check out the lyric video, directed by James Zwadlo, below.

The Chainsmokers are continuing to grow from strength to strength. Currently on an European tour, the duo recently announced the release date for their highly anticipated debut album, Memories…Do Not Open. The album is due to drop on April 7 and will include their current hit ‘Paris’, and 10 brand new never-before heard tracks. The duo will also be kicking off a 40 city North American tour in April in support of the album.

Coldplay are also set to be working on new music, with Chris Martin teasing a new EP called Kaleidoscope on Twitter. Chris also made an earlier appearance on tonight’s BRITs, with a performance of ‘A Different Corner’ in tribute to the late George Michael.

‘Something Just Like This’ is available now.
