Months after slaying us all with his incredible single ‘Attention’, Charlie Puth is back at it again with the second track to be taken from his sophomore album VoiceNotes.
‘How Long’ is Charlie’s latest infectious offering, which was released after a lot of teasing on social media. Over the past few days, the singer has been tweeting pictures and videos with the captions eventually spelling out ‘How Long Has This Been Going On?’.
The video captioned ‘Been’ shows Charlie recording a little ditty on his phone in the car, whilst ‘Going’ shows him bringing it to life in the studio. ‘On?’ gives us even more of an insight into the song, with Charlie revealing it would be released today.

Now, the wait is finally over as ‘How Long’ is here in all its glory. It’s safe to say that we’re already obsessed – if you thought ‘Attention’ was catchy, you’ve heard nothing yet. ‘How Long’ has a slick yet fairly stripped back vibe which showcases the singer’s vocal range. The chorus is up there as one of the most memorable pop music hooks of the year – we guarantee it will be stuck in your head for a lifetime. Along with ‘Attention’, ‘How Long’ highlights that we can expect a more mature sound from Charlie’s sophomore album VoiceNotes and we are 100% ready for it all.

In addition to releasing ‘How Long’, Charlie has revealed more details about VoiceNotes. The 13-track album is due to be released on January 19 2018 and is available to pre-order now. Charlie’s webstore has some awesome fan bundles available which include hoodies and wristbands.
Charlie also unveiled the album artwork on Twitter. Opting for a classic black and white picture, the singer is seen sitting on a bed with his keyboard. It’s simple but effective, with Charlie looking as handsome as ever – take a look below.

The title of the album was announced earlier this year, when Charlie revealed that he’d used the Voice Notes app on his phone to record ideas for the album, from lyrics to bits of melody.
Speaking to US breakfast show Today in June, Charlie said: “VoiceNotes, the name comes from that little app on your phone. I’m not really good at writing down music, I just have it in my head and it (recording the ditty) needs to be immediate for it to work, so when I came up with (new song) Attention, I was on this train in Tokyo and… I had this in my head and I couldn’t get my laptop (out) and make the beat real quick (sic), so I just (performed it in a beatbox style to remember it).
“I wanted it to be this like, kind of disco-y thing, and then I went back to my hotel and made the beat and listened back to the Voice Note (recording). So every song on this album is made from a Voice Note.”
VoiceNotes is the follow up to Charlie’s debut album Nine Track Mind, which featured the smash hits ‘See You Again’, ‘Marvin Gaye’, ‘One Call Away’, and ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’.
