Kindhearted singer Cheryl launched her own charity organisation back in 2015 called Cheryl’s Trust. The trust aims to help thousands of young, vulnerable and unemployed people in the North East area through a media centre in the heart of the Newcastle city centre.
The centre is the first to be built by the proud Geordie and it will be open to the public from this summer. The generous star has spent the past two years tirelessly fundraising for her charity donating money from her StormFlower perfumes, launching limited edition chocolate bars via Greggs, and organising many more events including auctions.
Over the next few years Cheryl is hopeful she and the Prince’s Trust will be able to open more youth centres all over the UK. The first will be built in the former X Factor judge’s hometown of Newcastle.
Speaking about the launch of the safe space through a statement, the charitable star said:
“I am incredibly proud to call Newcastle my hometown and it’s important to me to be able to do my bit to help the young people in the area. No young person should be held back by their circumstances, this new centre will transform thousands of young lives by teaching skills, developing confidence and moving young people into education, work or training.”
She broke the exciting news via her official Twitter account earlier today with an emotional message thanking her supporters for helping make the centre a reality:
