Singer, Cheryl has shared a touching tribute to her loving mother.
Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day here in the UK, and while we were spending the day spoiling our mothers, celebrities were busy posting touching tributes to their beloved mothers on social media.
And Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was no different, sharing a photo of her tenderly kissing her mother’s cheek, the gorgeous Geordie accompanied the sweet Instagram photo with a touching message to her mother, Joan Callaghan, writing: “On this day of celebrating our mothers I am posting one of my favorites .. I love you mam. Thank you so much for being more than a mother to me.. For being my friend, my rock and always thinking of us (kids & grandkids) and others before yourself.. You really deserve to be celebrated. Such a special woman. Love you loads !” (sic).
Cheryl and her mother Joan, have a famously close relationship and Cheryl was quoted a few years back saying she only trusts her “mother and dogs”.
Joan was the first person to recognise Cheryl’s talent for dance, and enrolled her in various ballet classes in Newcastle, when the X Factor judge was a young child, after taking dance lessons as a child and becoming a singer over the years, Joan’s constant support meant that our Chezza was able to pursue and achieve her dreams.
Joan was also there throughout Cheryl’s journey and triumph on the Popstars The Rivals show, where Cheryl got her big break, joining the girl band Girls Aloud.
And it is obvious that their close bond has only strengthened over the years, the mother and daughter share a beautiful friendship as well as a parent and child relationship.
