Geordie superstar Cheryl Fernandez-Versini today returned to her hometown, to serve surprised locals at Greggs stores.
The pop babe turned up at the Greggs stores in Newcastle today to launch her ‘Belgian Chocolate Crunch Bar’ in aid of her charity, Cheryl’s Trust.
Cheryl served lucky customers at the Greggs in Gosforth, the Quayside and Eldon Square.

The chocolate bars are on sale from today for £1 and will be available for a limited time of eight weeks. 5p from every bar sold will be donated to the Cheryl’s Trust.

Speaking to the Chronicle The X Factor judge said: “It’s actually been really fun, just chatting to people going into Greggs to get their breakfast before doing their long day’s work, it’s been lovely, and just to be home. I was handing out chocolates to people who were trying to tell us they were on a diet and five seconds later they were eating my chocolate bar. They are really enjoying it which is great. Initially I wanted to approach Greggs for a few reasons. I was born in the North East, that’s all we ate a lot of the time, pasties. Initially I wanted to do something sweet, more like a doughnut or muffin, but after going backwards and forwards we settled on this Belgian Chocolate Crunch because everyone loves a bit of chocolate and Belgian chocolate is delicious, I love Rocky Road and it’s my take on a Rocky Road. I went to one guy and asked if he would like to try one and he told me he had already had two, which I was really pleased about.”

The Cheryl’s Trust is a charity set up in partnership with Princes Trust, to help young, vulnerable and unemployed young people living in the North East.
Cheryl is aiming to raise £2 million, to open a youth centre in the city of Newcastle and speaking about her fundraising efforts, the pretty star added: “I’ve still got a lot of work to do to be honest with you, It’s not an easy task I’ve set myself but I never do seem to give myself an easy time. It’s a good challenge, I’m really motivated, a lot more than I have been for a long time about anything. If I get this right I am on track to do some really amazing things.”
