Los Angeles-based R&B artist and songwriter Chlo Subia drops her new single, “Stairways,” a track lifted from her upcoming album, Boys Kill Butterflies. The track features Brandon Colbein.
Cho explains, “‘Stairways’ is one of the songs that I always come back to. The record is so representative of that intense feeling of knowing you’re falling in love with someone. You might not have called it love yet, but the emotion is definitely taking you to that vulnerable place with someone. I’m forever grateful to have this song that can take me back to an exact time in my life.”
She goes on, “I’m the biggest lover in the room. So this song is my happy place”
With over 500,000 streams on Spotify, Chlo Subia began writing songs at the age of 15, followed by touring across the country refining her craft. In 2022, she released “More Than A Feeling” and “STARSIGN,” collectively amassing more than 350,000 streams, earning the respect of industry professionals at Warner Chappell, Kobalt, and Sony Amsterdam.
Talking about the way “Stairways” came together, Chlo says, “Writing ‘Stairways’ was simple. We all met for the first time in that session, and it felt like family. One of those records that we didn’t overthink, and sometimes you need that.”
“Stairways” opens on shimmering, quixotic tones topped by the high, plush voice of Chlo, imbuing the lyrics with seductive timbres. A delicious, rolling R&B rhythm gives the tune sensual, undulating textures. When Brandon’s haunting falsetto enters, the song elevates, especially as the two deluxe voices engage in antiphony and then merge in harmony.
“Visualize my body / As I walk in the room / Stimulate your calling / Tranquilize my thoughts … All I want is / You / You / Can’t keep my hands to myself / When all I want is / You / You / Stairways lead me back to you.”
Throbbing with passion and sultry, creamy savors, “Stairways” displays the crème de la crème talent of Chlo Subia.
