On Friday, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin came on stage alone with a guitar and performed Suzanne. The song dedicated to “absent friends”, was Martin’s tribute to late poet and songwriter, Leonard Cohen.

Martin sang the song during Coldplay’s London Palladium show. He said,

Sending my love to Mr. Leonard Cohen for those amazing songs. You changed my life.

The world lost Leonard Cohen on Monday. While Cohen died on Monday, the news of songwriter’s demise wasn’t revealed until after his funeral in Quebec on Thursday.

Celebrities took to social media to pay their tribute to Cohen. Justin Timberlake, Sean Lennon, Bette Midler, Russell Crowe, and Kiefer Sutherland were some of the people who sent their prayers and love to Cohen.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said,

“No other artist’s music felt or sounded like Leonard Cohen’s. Yet his work resonated across generations. Canada and the world will miss him”.

Leonard Cohen was a legendary singer/songwriter and an author who explored the realms of politics, religion, and sexuality through his works. Cohen was honored with both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’m Your Man and Songs From A Room are some of his famous works.
