In a video published today, popular LGBT YouTuber Chrissy Chambers from the YouTube channel BriaAndChrissy talked about her struggle with dealing with her PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), a disorder that affects 8% of the United States population at any given time.

She explains that she developed PTSD in 2013 after a traumatic breakup with an ex boyfriend. This ex had posted revenge porn videos of her online, a total of seven videos. It is a horrific thing that she bravely still struggles to deal with to this day, an ordeal she described as feeling like “being stabbed through the heart.”

Chrissy tells her viewers briefly of a battle against drug abuse and alcoholism, experiencing some relief from her illness after starting rapid resolution therapy in 2014, a form of therapy used specifically for those that suffer from PTSD.

“The longer you have PTSD the harder it is with treatment but that doesn’t mean that there’s no hope,” she tells her viewers, admitting that some days it feels like she’s never going to get better but that doesn’t mean she isn’t trying. Videos like this clearly show that the singer is trying her hardest to get through her symptoms and live a happy and healthy life.

For symptom relief, Chrissy promotes an active and healthy lifestyle along with spending time with loved ones and getting professional help for the PTSD.

Chrissy and her girlfriend Bria made a music video in February of 2016 that spreads a very hopeful message about bringing an end to revenge porn. The video has over 200,000 views on YouTube. You can watch the video below.

We are very proud of Chrissy for speaking about her PTSD and helping to stop the negative stigma connected to mental illnesses.
