When it comes to Harry Styles, it’s easy to think of reasons to sing his praises. He’s mega talented, super passionate, and more than that – he’s got a heart of gold. He was thrust into the spotlight at a young age and has lived his life without letting it get to his head. He gives back every chance that he gets, he provides kindness and positivity for fans across the world, and he reminds us all that love wins. All in all, if you’re looking for an idol, Harry is a number one pick.
While his compassion is what makes Harry who he is, his talent molds him as well. He can sing, he can write, he can play instruments, and he can act. In fact, he is making his acting debut in ‘Dunkirk’ this July. He’s not just making an acting debut in any film either, it’s a Christopher Nolan film, and Christoper Nolan films set a standard.
While fans of Harry have long acknowledged his talent and seen him as worthy of the role, some people weren’t as quick to see the same. Some film fans have questioned why he chose Harry for this role and he’s kept quiet about it for the most part. Nolan is a man who lets his work speak for itself. However, he did talk about Harry in an interview recently and said that he beat thousands of other prospects for the role.
“But for the guys on the beach, we really wanted young unknowns. He’s not that unknown, but he’d never done anything as an actor before.
“So he auditioned. I auditioned literally thousands of young men with different combinations of young men, and he had it.”
That’s right, one of the most known names in entertainment said himself that Harry had ‘it’ and stood out from the ranks of thousands of young men who wanted the job. It says something about how much he wanted this role too.
Earlier in 2016, it was also said that Harry’s namesake had nothing to do with why he got the role, if anything, it made him have to work harder. Nolan wasn’t going to take on a cast member just because of preexisting fame – and Harry didn’t expect that. Nor did he desire it. Harry wanted to prove himself and he did so – even more so than he could have hoped.
No amount of words will do the acting in the film justice, and we won’t have to wait much longer to see the film’s premiere. Dunkirk hits theaters this July and Harry will make his acting debut alongside the likes of Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, and Mark Rylance.
We’d say he’s doing pretty well for his first film role, wouldn’t you?
