Greyson Chance packed Brighton Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts, with fans of all ages who had lined up hours prior to showtime.
Opening up the show with “west texas,” Chance took the stage with full energy, gratitude and an unforgettable smile. As soon as his guitarist stepped on stage, fans began cheering as if the winning touchdown of the Super Bowl had just taken place. If this was already deafening for those in attendance, it was nothing compared to when the singer finally appeared. Regardless of age, gender and everything else, supporters were ready to lose their voices and experience a show they would never forget.
Greyson Chance instructed the crowd to leave their worries, concerns and fears at the door in order to experience a different world for his 90-minute set. Within minutes, fans were captivated by Chance’s natural on-stage energy and charisma. He effortlessly serenaded fans with his impressive vocals that brought each of his tracks to life. Between his falsetto and extensive vocal range, his talent shined and radiated to every square inch of Brighton Music Hall and made a lasting impact on those in attendance. This helped contribute to the endless cheering and dancing occurring around the venue. The audience was able to feel every emotion the singer portrayed through his lyrics. Chance even took the time to address anxiety, the downfalls of social media and everyday pressures we face in society.
The “Low” singer performed songs from the beginning of his career as well as tracks off of his latest album portraits. This included “bleed you still,” “timekeeper” and “black on black.” Fans were able to hear their favorite throwbacks from Chance’s discography as well as the tracks they made memories to most recently. Greyson Chance showed off his growth as not only an artist over the years, and even in the past year, but also as a person. His level of comfortability on stage came across as confident and secure. It felt as though this was something he was born to do instead of trained to feel stable doing as a career.
The intimate show allowed fans to connect with Chance in a way that they may not be able to experience again due to his increasing rise in popularity. By yelling things out to him in the crowd that he could hear and respond to, the audience felt as though they were a part of the show and genuinely knew the singer on a personal level. It almost instantly became a night that those in attendance would never forget. This was especially accurate for the woman whose phone Greyson Chance was able to snag in order to take a quick on-stage selfie video before returning it to the lucky fan.
As soon as Greyson Chance begins a performance, his energy becomes contagious. The way he connects with fans through sincere interactions and truly feels the music is something that is echoed throughout every venue and city he performs in. Between his vulnerable lyrics and the smooth transitions throughout his set, it is easy for people of all ages and identities to be mesmerized by Greyson Chance in this type of setting. And this is prominent whether they know the lyrics to all of his tracks or not.
