Craig David has been given the honour of switching this year’s Christmas lights on at Oxford Street, London.
The switch on will take place this Sunday (November 6). Speaking about the opportunity, Craig said: “It’s a great honour to be switching on the lights and lighting up Oxford Street. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and an incredible 2017.” Craig has made an incredible comeback this year, topped off by his first number one album in 16 years, making him a worthy choice to switch this year’s lights on.
As well as the lights switch on, there will also be performances hosted by Will Manning and Aimee Vivian from Capital Radio. Confirmed to perform are The Vamps, Nathan Sykes and Louisa Johnson.
There will be interactive activities along the street throughout the day, from 12 noon until 7pm. The performances and lights switch on will take place from 6:15pm, on a stage situated between House of Fraser and John Lewis. Oxford Street will also be closed for traffic for the first time in four years.
This year, Oxford Street has done something different, by teaming with NSPCC for its lights display. The Little Stars campaign encourages members of the public to donate a suggested £5 and name one of the lights in dedication to someone special in their life.
