The third and final song for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) – the Finnish national selection show for Eurovision – has been released. Darude and Sebastian Rejman shine throughout in this song and music video for “Look Away”. This follows up the previous songs “Release Me” and “Superman“.
Real name Ville Virtanen, Darude is one of the biggest Finnish DJs in the world. His instant hit, “Sandstorm” went viral and hit the charts hard internationally. He’s gone on to have a successful DJ career spanning two decades. He’s released a total of four studio albums, won three Finnish Grammy Awards, and has had his music included in movies, TV series’, games, and events such as the Euro 2000, The Olympics, and Wimbledon. We also interviewed him, just last year, about the release of his fourth studio album Moments.
This song has been written by the artists themselves, Sebastian Rejman and Ville Virtanen. Once again, the music video has been directed by Jaakko Manninen, who also directed the previous two music videos for “Release Me” and “Superman“.

The song is addicting to say the least – if the last two weeks have proven anything, it’s that Darude sure knows how to create and produce a track that you will never forget. All three songs that have been released are identifiable as dance music but undeniably different from one another, each containing different rhythm, melody, and emotion. We have to admit, Sebastian Rejman’s vocals on this track are beyond perfection, his voice is the best we’ve heard it, and we’re excited to see how they perform this live. Although, the repeated line of “Look Away” as part of the chorus is somewhat disappointing and has an air of something that is missing; on the other hand, it’s easy to remember and the one part that sticks in our heads all day long.
As for the music video, they have decided to do away with the rolling narrative that can be found in “Release Me” and “Superman“, deciding to choose a performance visual with intercut scenes of people looking away from the camera. A green screen was clearly used to display the various background scenery from a space setting to a desert to a mountain range.
“Look Away” is available to download and stream, right now, through Armada Music. UMK is set to take place on 2 March 2019, where all three songs will be performed live for the public to decide.
