Deadpool is not a hero, he is an anti-hero. In a new video released on February 19, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool spoofed Kanye West’s SNL backstage rant.
Although the video spoofed West’s rant, the main purpose as evident from the title of the video was to explain why Reynolds won’t be hosting Saturday Night Live.
Referencing SNL‘s creator, Reynolds said,
“Listen up, Lorne Michaels, SNL took my f–king Life of Pablo album without asking. Now I’m bummed. That and Rip Taylor — fake ass! Imma break the motherf–king internet. I’ve got the biggest opening rated-R movie of all time,” Deadpool continues in the video. “Are they f–king crazy? I’m 50 percent more influential than MC Hammer, Apostle Judas Iscariot, the KIA Sorrento, 10 percent more influential than Barbara Bush, the Muppets, Bob Newhart. 60 percent more influential than the iPhone 5, shredded cheese and Dr. Ruth, 7 percent less influential than the Urban Dictionary.”
On February 13th, West had an outburst backstage and was recorded saying, “Don’t f–k with me. Look at that sh-t, they took my f–kin’ stage off of SNL without asking me. Now I’m bummed. That and Taylor Swift’s fake ass.”
After a record breaking business globally and a massive success at the box office, a petition was posted on Change.org for the fictional character Deadpool to host SNL. Nearly 69,000 had signed the petition.
