Last night Zendaya was honored with a special Barbie doll of her liking. The doll is dressed head to toe in her now infamous Oscars outfit that basically shut down E!’s “Fashion Police” after on air personalities made racial comments.
Zendaya posted a heart warming post that garnished a lot of attention.
“When I was little, I couldn’t find a doll that looked like me, my…how times have changed.”
Zendaya then went on to thank Barbie.
Demi Lovato took to Twitter to discuss her feelings stating: “Hey @Barbie, what about a curvy doll or one with true size measurements? I’ll model. #raiseyourvoice #besuper”
The main issue here is, yes, Demi Lovato is right. There needs to be dolls out there that are not one size fits all. There needs to be more diversity. The way Lovato worded it completely defeated her desired purpose, making her seem like a hypocrite. Demi completely took away from a very important moment for Zendaya, as well as body shamed the girl.
Lovato has since deleted the tweet. As Hannah Montana once said “Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days.”
