On December 16, 2014, Demi Lovato took to social media to introduce her new puppy Buddy to the world! She posted a picture of her with the pup with the caption: “Guys……. SANTA CAME EARLY THIS YEAR!” But sadly, Buddy was taken away in a tragic accident only 6 months later. It was reported by a lot of different sources that Buddy was mauled to death by coyotes, but Demi has neither confirmed or denied those reports.
Demi took to Twitter this past July to announce the death of her beloved pet. She said: “We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday. He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong. We have incredible people around us and so much love and support which is holding us up in this time of need. Buddy was loved by so many people and as small as he was, he made a huge impact in our lives. He truly was human in a way and we were so blessed to have him in our lives. We ask you that you please respect our privacy while we take this time to grieve and remember the magical moments we spent with our little angel. We will never forget our baby boy Buddy and his gentle loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever. RIP my tiniest little nightingale, Buddy… ‘I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be…”‘
A month later on August 20, 2015, which was Demi’s 23rd birthday, she once again took to social media to introduced her ”little superhero”, Batman. The singer posted a picture of Batman on Instagram with the caption: “Ummm… guys…. meet Batman…..” The next day, Demi posted on Twitter that nothing will ever replace Buddy. She said: “Nothing will EVER replace my little lion heart @DemisBuddy… ever ever ever… but sometimes God puts new little souls in our lives “
A couple of days ago, Demi posted a tribute on Instagram to her late pup Buddy. She posted a video of the pup with the caption: “One year ago today, God blessed me with the sweetest little angel and my very first son. Words will never be able to express my love and bond with him. I felt like he was literally my baby because the connection I had with this little guy was scarily human. I believe he came into my life at the perfect time but he left way too soon and a piece of my heart will always be broken without him in this world. I love you so much Buddy and I miss you every single minute of every single day but you’ll live on in my heart with memories like this forever…. RIP my little baby boy and angel. I love you my little lion heart. Your light is inside of me..”
She also posted another video on Instagram, but this time of her “superhero” Batman. She said: “And even though my heart aches for Buddy, God did give me another little angel in my life and I wouldn’t have him if I hadn’t lost Buddy. It just goes to show you that everything happens for a reason and if you stay strong God gives you more incredible miracles. So here’s my youngest son.. My little snuggle bug and my little superhero… Batman.”
