April Kry is an up and coming American Country Music Artist who was born in Connecticut. She currently lives in the home of country music, Nashville, after moving there when she was twenty.
April grew up around music and started singing when she was five. Her father is a worship leader at Church and it was he who encouraged April to pick up a guitar when she was Thirteen. April cites Martina McBride as one of her biggest inspirations saying, “Her songs, her voice – she’s one of my biggest inspirations. I realized that country music was all about storytelling, and that’s exactly where I wanted to be.”
On her way to Nashville, April was a background vocalist for Irish singer-songwriter Enya. She also performed “God Bless America” at an event where the key speaker was Jermaine Jackson.
She posted her first video on her YouTube channel in July 2014. This was her video for “Beauty Queen” which is a powerful song that perfectly showcases April’s voice.
Since then, she has posted several covers on both her YouTube channel and Instagram page. These range from country favourites Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood and of course Martina McBride. Other artists she has covered include Justin Bieber and Adele, showing her diversity as an artist.
Her latest single is called “Get Ready to Miss Me” and Next Women of Country recently named it as their number one song of 2016.
