Matt Townsend is an indie folk artist from North Carolina. With his unqiue voice, Matt delivers his original songs inspired by folk music, 60’s rock and pop, and indie rock, just to name a few. Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel, Neil Young are counted among some of his musical inspirations

Matt has been performing across the country since 2012. Just this year, he released his lastest EPThe Drifter and the Dream (Part I.)  The five-track EP is part one of a double EP series. What’s interesting is that his first EP highlights a quieter acoustic side, while the second EP takes on more guitar-driven rock sound.

“We utilized echo mountains vast library of vintage equipment to seek a variety of guitar sounds for the album,” said Matt. “A lot of the songs explore the themes of isolation in the modern world, the spiritual longing that accompanies that, and a kind of search for meaning in an increasingly chaotic world.”

You can find Matt performing with his band throughout the East Coast in support of The Drifter and the Dream (Part I.) Click HERE for some of the upcoming tour dates.

A track off his latest album, “Came Down From the Mountain,” is about an inner exploration of place in the world both material and physical. Check it out below:
