Darrin James is a funk rock singer/songwriter from Detroit. His third full length album, Strange Storm, explores themes of today’s “climate” of constant violence, blatant greed, religious hypocrisy and political chaos.
Although he was raised in Michigan, he spent a decade in Brooklyn, New York, where he practiced his songwriting and production craft. We consider Darrin’s music to be funk rock, but in reality he’s a mix of blues, folk, rock, soul, funk, and country! His musical style is as varied as his background as it draws on his love of the blues and folk music of the south, the Motown soul and classic rock n’ roll rawness of Detroit, and the eclecticism and immediacy of Brooklyn.
