A day before the song and the music video’s official release on February 25, 2022, Tyga teased an eighteen-second snippet regarding their upcoming collaboration. It featured Doja Cat in multiple sexy fits and Tyga driving around a neon-adorned city with his fancy sports car. Other than that, the teaser also showcased a futuristic video setting.
The song Freaky Deaky will be part of Tyga’s eighth studio album in the making. In an Apple Music interview, Tyga claims that his upcoming album is about eighty per cent done. And according to him, his latest album is expected to be launched by summer.
Tyga Refers to Doja Cat as a True Artist
In the same Apple Music interview, “Taste” rapper Tyga said that he specifically picked Doja Cat for Freaky Deaky since she is a “true artist.” He also further stated that he selected to team up with her because of her unique self, shown in her outfits, streams, and TikTok videos. Furthermore, Tyga also added that working with the “Get Into It” rapper and singer feels like a breeze.
In addition, he also likened working with Doja Cat to working with Chris Brown. In a different interview, he described that people like Chris Brown are individuals who can create a magnificent song in just half an hour.
Song Collaboration for “Freaky Deaky” is Not the Two Artists’ First Collaboration
For the newer Doja Cat and Tyga fans excited over this collaboration, do know that this isn’t the first time the artists have teamed up for a song collaboration. After all, Doja Cat and Tyga’s first song collaboration goes back to 2019 for their remix of Doja Cat’s song, Juicy.
Juicy is part of Doja Cat’s second album entitled Hot Pink. In fact, Doja Cat and Tyga’s new collaboration actually referenced their first collaboration through the lyrics “Forever, forever, ever, juicy, baby.” And given that the two have previously worked together and came back for another collaboration, it’s safe to say that fans can expect a future collaboration from them again in the near future.
“Freaky Deaky” Music and Lyrics
Freaky Deaky is a song filled with pop and rap elements and tackles wild imaginations and sexual fantasies. Moreover, the melody includes faint guitar sounds and is accompanied by urban-sounding throbs. Critics complimented the song for having a catchy and flirtatious tune.
And despite being described by other critics as having a calming instrumental, the song also includes lively and bold rap parts done by Doja Cat. The song also includes three verses where Tyga talks about his preferred sexual inclinations.
