Here at CelebMix, we love introducing our readers to new music that we feel you need to be listening to. The new single from Swedish pop duo I Am Karate, titled ‘Expectations,’ is no exception!
The duo, comprising of members Erika and Marta, made their debut on the music scene several years ago, with their sound described as ‘electronic pop.’ Despite growing up on different sides of Sweden, after a musical encounter, the two girls knew that being in a band was what they wanted to do.
Shortly thereafter, I Am Karate was formed and the duo wrote and released their self-titled debut EP, along with singles ‘Elevate’ and ‘Bitter.’ Following this, the girls were signed to Universal Music, which led to the release of EPs ‘In Thin Air’ and ‘Swayze.’ The single ‘Expectations’ represents their first release since 2016.

After taking time out to work on their music sound, they are now back on the music scene, with their phenomenal single ‘Expectations,’ recently releasing the lyric video for the song. The track follows an extremely emotional and personal story, describing the emotions that follow after a relationship heartbreakingly crumbles. This is a track for anyone who has ever had a broken heart, something that many can relate to, and ultimately the lyrics serve as a reflection on what went wrong in the relationship and the better things that will inevitably lie in store in the future.
