Ed Sheeran becomes Dr Sheeran after being awarded honorary doctorate from the University of Suffolk

Sheeran has always called Suffolk his home and after returning from his world tour to receive this title he is incredibly proud. Sheeran said: ‘I’m honored to receive this honorary degree. I’ve had an amazing year with my world tour and this makes it even better.’

Sheeran announced his new title on twitter for his 15.5 million twitter followers to read his good news. He tweeted: ‘I graduated today; I am now officially Dr. Sheeran.’ To make sure no one thought this was a practical joke a few minutes later he tweeted: ‘I wasn’t joking, I am a doctor now.’

The University offered him this title due to his: ‘outstanding contribution to music.’

Circumstances for Ed have certainly changed as he dropped out of his high school in Suffolk when he was 16 and now is returning a Dr.

It was not that long ago when the College Dropout artist Kanye West received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
