It’s been over a year since Ed Sheeran released music, but he’s back stronger than ever. His first two singles have completely shattered Spotify’s day one streaming record!
Ed stole the title from his pals 1D with his songs outplaying the band’s single Drag Me Down. Castle On The Hill brought in 6,168,395 streams, while Shape Of You brought in 6,868,642 streams.
Since the release of these songs on Friday, Ed has been breaking records left and right. The singles racked up 25.8 million Spotify streams in 48 hours. The YouTube lyric video did pretty impressive as well, receiving over 10 millions views in 24 hours, making it his most successful video launch yet.
Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill are the only two tracks off Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album, ÷, that we’ve heard so far. But with all the hints he’s been dropping about the new record lately, we’re hoping we won’t have to wait too much longer for more.
Ed also announced his track listing to fans via social media.
