Ellie Goulding is featured in Glamour’s February 2016 issue! The 29 year old singer opens up about her solo songwriting process, her recipe for music success, on setting her own boundaries, and even dating Dougie Poynter.
When asked if she and Dougie are on or off again, Ellie said, “I’ve been busy; he’s been busy. We’re apart constantly. But we’re great because we accept it’s never going to be perfect.” In her interview with Glamour, Ellie talks about what it’s like being a musician and dating one.
On going out with someone in the business:
“Dougie and I have such different musical worlds, but he understands when I’ve had a tough rehearsal or tough couple of days traveling. I don’t like to rely on him to get me through everything, though. I’m an independent person—I do like to take care of things myself. It’s important to figure out ways of keeping your own Zen.”
On Dougie’s style:
“We dress kind of similar. Dougie’s always like, ‘We can’t both wear this shirt!’ But I like it.”
On their relationship highs and lows:
“Relationships have their ups and downs. And sometimes, yeah, I want to be left alone. Dougie is respectful of that.”
On the strangest part about their relationship:
“People always say we look like brother and sister. Even our family members say it. It’s quite weird.”
