We have good news for Emily Blunt fans!
The rumours are true. Emily Blunt is going to be the new Mary Poppins for Disney! Now, this isn’t going to be a remake as some people have been saying. It’s actually going to be a sequel to the 1964 classic which starred the amazing Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
The Edge of Tomorrow actress will star in a follow up film which is going to take place 20 years after the original film in Depression-era London and it will be based on the remaining seven instalments of P.L. Travers’ Mary Poppins children’s book series. It isn’t an exact sequel but it will continue Mary’s adventures with the Banks family. It is going to be directed by director Rob Marshall who also directed another Disney musical Into The Woods, which Emily Blunt also starred in. John DeLuca and Marc Platt will also be the producers for the project. Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) and Marc Shaiman will be writing new songs for the film while David Magee (Finding Neverland, Life of Pi) will be writing the screenplay.
We already can’t wait to see it!
