Emma Stone in talks to play Cruella De Vil in Live Action Spin Off!

Actress Emma Stone, star of blockbuster The Amazing Spiderman and its sequel and the Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture Birdman, is reportedly being pursued by Disney as the Queen of Mean Cruella De Vil (CruEmma De Vil?) in the live-action spin off of 101 Dalmatians, which is currently in development.

That might sound a bit surprising, at first – an actress with such a warm and welcoming vibe about them as Emma had isn’t exactly what you’d expect for someone as cruel and evil as Cruella De Vil, but actually….it seems like it might just be a perfect choice!

With blockbusters and an Oscar winner already under her belt, Emma Stone has shown herself to be capable and versatile, and in TV interviews (such as her Lip Sync Battle on Jimmy Fallon!) she’s shown herself as naturally funny and charismatic, so she wouldn’t have much trouble carrying the film. Since the film will revolve entirely around Cruella (Much like how Maleficent did around…well, Maleficent).

Cruella isn’t the silent, brooding kind of evil, either…she’s loud and energetic, somewhat flamboyant, and in fact what makes her even more scary is that she doesn’t appear all that evil at first.

There’s been no official confirmation yet, with Empire Magazine reporting that Stone is currently “in talks”, and a contract has not been signed. As of yet the film has not even secured a Director, though filming is expected to commence before the year is out.

We think this is a part that Emma Stone could nail, and hope to be reporting soon that the deal has been finalised!
