“Arcade” told the story of a broken heart, but now the Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence is ready to fight for love and himself in his follow-up single “Love Don’t Hate It”, which was released on 23 October.
Duncan, a small-town boy in a big arcade, was crowned as the winner of Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel, after months of being the bookies favourite with his powerful ballad “Arcade”. Since then, his number has appeared on the top of several charts, and fans have been eagerly waiting for what’s next for the Dutch talent.
The wait was totally worth it, as we can state this new song could win the grandiose contest again. “I wasn’t ready for this” – says the lyrics, and we must say we weren’t either!
“Love Don’t Hate It” – written by Laurence, along with Michelle Buzz, Sam Farrar, Robert Gerongco and Samuel Gerongco is an electro-ballad with a chorus that literally explodes, and leaves us just wanting more of it. That’s why we weren’t surprised by how excited Duncan was to finally release it.
Sooo excited to finally share new music with you. There are no boundaries, no limits when it comes to love. It’s the purest thing we have in this world and yet so many people, including myself, have to fight for it every single day. Because of their looks, their beliefs, their gender, their sexuality. Because of what others judge them for. LOVE DON’T HATE IT is a song about fighting for who you are and who you choose to love. Because in the end it is always your choice to make. It’s my answer against the hate in the world, that will always keep trying to break down what we crave most: love.
