2010’s Eurovision Song Contest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut, or just Lena as she likes to call herself now, returned to the international music scene these past couple of days with a brand new song and we at CelebMix could not get more excited about that.
Lena has come a long way since performing her breakout hit “Satellite” on the big Eurovision stage in Oslo back in 2010. She has been making new music and changing her style more and more with each new album. While “Satellite” was fun and carefree, fitting to Lena’s young age back in the day, her new single is something else entirely.
The song is titled “Catapult” and features Australian indie-pop artist Kat Vinter as well as up-and-coming UK rapper Little Simz. It will serve as the lead single in the UK for her fourth studio album “Crystal Sky” and is being sent to radio stations all over the nation these days.
According to Lena, “Catapult” is “extravagant and even closer to (her) personal taste” than anything she has done before. And you can definitely hear that. The new song mixes various different music styles, thanks to Lena’s participation in co-writing the track, but also thanks to Kat Vinter’s indie pop background and Little Simz’s rap verses. Both have also helped with the assistance on both the production and song writing on this captivating electro-indie-pop-track.
“Catapult” is a slow jam that will leave you breathless even when the last note is over. So in case you need something to listen to during the upcoming cold winter days, I’d suggest you make this song part of your personal soundtrack.
You can stream it either on Soundcloud or Spotify (links are below) or you can buy it on the digital retailer of your choice.
