In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Alexa Cappelli opens up about her music, social media, and what fans can look forward to seeing from her soon.
What can you tell us about your latest single “Could’ve Just Left Me Alone” and the inspiration behind it?
I was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend about a relationship she was in where someone wasted her time. I empathized with her because I’ve been there too and realized probably so many other people have as well. I wanted to write a song that encompassed the frustration that comes with the aftermath of the healing process. This is definitely the kind of song to scream along to.
Can fans look forward to seeing a music video for the track?
Yes! I’m looking forward to it as much as my fans are and I can’t wait to share it with them. It depicts the genuine emotion that was expressed in the video I posted the day I wrote the song.
You released your debut EP this year ‘Confused @ 22.’ What was it like to share that project with fans and hear their feedback?
It was the first body of work that I felt properly showcased where I was at in life. I’m so proud of the songs on the project because of how much I’ve grown since I first started writing [and] releasing music. I was very excited that my fans had the EP to listen and relate to as “Could’ve Just Left Alone” was gaining traction.
Speaking of fans, you have a ton of them on social media. What platform do you like to connect with them on the most?
Each platform is unique! I love going live on TikTok to have conversations with people in real time. On Instagram, I check in with my fans regularly within our group chats. Twitter is fun to tease song lyrics and photos I don’t share anywhere else. I use all of these and more to share new music and of course, it’s cool to see how fans react differently in different spaces.
How do you think the music you are working on now differs from what you have released in the past?
Right now, I’m working towards building the most cohesive world for my next project. I love lyrics, sounds, and melodies that all point back to a similar through-line. It’s been lovely to grow with the people I’ve been working with for a while and to also meet and create relationships with new collaborators who inspire me just as much. The more I write, the clearer it becomes. As I continue the process, I gain more insight into how each song resonates with my fans who chose to listen. I’m really grateful that I get to keep sharing my music with them.
What can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
More music, memories, easter eggs, and ways for us to keep building community with one another throughout it all.
