Taao Kross is an exciting Ibiza based DJ and producer who is known for his euphoric sound armed with powerful beats and great melodies.
With hits such as ‘Untouchable’ and ‘The Primitives’ under his belt, Taao has honed his craft over the years and has found himself reaching phenomenal new heights. His most recent offering, ‘Evolet’, defines his sound perfectly and is just a taste of what we can expect from him in the future.
As a multi-talented DJ, Taao has had the opportunity to play to fans across the world. He is also a resident DJ at Pacha Ibiza and has played for the likes of Steve Aoki and David Guetta’s infamous F*** Me I’m Famous parties.
We had the opportunity to quiz Taao about his DJing journey, his new music, Ibiza and much more. Check out what he had to say below.
How did you first get into DJing/producing?
I started at a young age, at home with decks, then moving on to using turntables that my parents gave me. At that time I never imagined the trajectory that I’m now having!
Who were your early passions and influences?
Early passions and influences in Spain were compilations such as Max MIX, Megamix which featured DJs doing incredible mixes which caught my attention and inspired my initially
One of your recent releases is ‘Untouchable’ featuring Christina Novelli. How did the track
come about?
It came at a time when I wanted to do something very vocal on the radio, I created the
instrumental and we were analyzing voices until I came up with the idea that Christina would
do it perfect, and that’s how it was.
Your first release of 2018 is ‘Evolet’. What was the production process like?
Right after “Untouchable” I needed to remember that TAAO KROSS is a very track artist,
very club and festival, with a 100% Electro sound and that’s how it came out.
We hear that you have some new tracks in the pipeline too. What can we expect from them?
Now if I think I’m doing what I really need to continue growing as an artist, I am convinced
that I have created something different, and I hope that the big labels understand it,
because the public will be surprised. I have been working for months on what I hope will be an important point in my career.
You have a Pacha residency in Ibiza – what can partygoers expect from your set this
summer?
I hope you come as always to enjoy a different set in each performance. They are never the
same, but always super fun.
What do you enjoy most about the Ibizan crowds?
I really like the ibiza day, the beaches, its waters, the atmosphere of the day is incredible …
Ibiza has a lot to experience … it is a paradise.
You’re the resident DJ for David Guetta’s infamous F*** Me I’m Famous parties – what’s your
craziest story from one of these parties?
Every night is a surprise, they are unique moments, being with DAVID GUETTA being a guru
and a reference is something incredible and for me every night is special.
In addition to performing in Ibiza, you’ve also toured across the world. Is there a particular
city or location that stands out as one of your favourites?
I have had the good fortune to perform in almost all the most important countries in the world,
Qatar, Brazil, Germany, Italy, France, Jordan, China, Indonesia … in all of which I’ve had many great moments.
You’ve shared the stage with a number of huge DJ names including David Guetta, Martin
Garrix and Steve Aoki. Are any of them people you’d like to collaborate with?
Collaborating with Steve Aoki or David Guetta besides being a dream would be something
incredible because I have a respect and an incredible admiration. I hope to make it happen
and I work hard every day to get it someday.
How do you go about preparing and picking tracks to play during a set?
I listen to a lot of music every day, I review charts, I review playlists, and I analyze
everything … In my pen drives I can take from Tech to Big Room so I analyze and listen to
thousands of tracks every month … until I select those that inspire me.
What advice would you give to any budding DJs?
Patience, work, sacrifice, effort … work.
