Fresh from winning over millions of viewers on the BBC’s Celebrity Traitors, Sebastian Croft is turning his attention to a new weekly podcast, The Sunday Scaries with Bash Croft, launching this weekend.

    Sebastian Croft

Produced by award-winning production company Persephonica, the series will see the actor invite friends and special guests onto the sofa each week for an unfiltered catch-up on life, the highs and lows of the past seven days, and the familiar anxieties that come with facing another Monday.

Arriving on Sunday 1 November at 12am GMT, the podcast aims to offer a lighter take on the end-of-weekend blues, with Bash and his guests sharing their personal dilemmas, recent wins and everything in between.

Each episode will feature a number of regular segments, including ‘Flop of the Week’ and ‘Slay of the Week’, giving guests the opportunity to celebrate their highlights and air their grievances. Listeners will also get the chance to have their own dilemmas and personal wins addressed via the show’s answerphone machine, before Croft and his guests attempt to ‘ditch the dread’ and look ahead to the week to come.

Speaking about the project, Bash explained that the idea grew out of his own Sunday rituals, which typically involve spending time with friends, playing games and discussing everything from the week’s events to their latest obsessions.

“My Sundays are usually spent with friends, playing games, chatting about our weeks, what’s going on in the world and what we’re loving or hating at the moment, and also with a healthy pinch of existential dread of the week to come, so it felt like the perfect fit to bring to life,” he said.

He added that the podcast is intended to offer companionship as much as entertainment, particularly for those who find Sundays daunting or lonely. “I want the podcast to feel like you’re sitting on the sofa with us, having completely honest, unfiltered chats with friends. Different guests every week, highs and lows, laughs and moans! Hopefully, it’ll make everyone’s Sunday feel a little brighter and the week ahead a little less daunting.”

The launch follows Croft’s recent appearance on the second series of Celebrity Traitors, where he emerged as one of the breakout personalities of the BBC reality hit, introducing him to an even wider audience.

For Persephonica founder and CEO Dino Sofos, the podcast offers an opportunity to build on that newfound momentum while introducing a fresh entertainment format.

“Sunday Scaries is a fresh take on a weekly entertainment show – a feel-good antidote to the Sunday dread that gives audiences something to look forward to at the end of the weekend,” Sofos said.

Designed with YouTube, social media and podcast platforms in mind, the series will extend beyond the traditional audio format, with Persephonica anticipating a strong visual and social presence alongside its weekly episodes.

The production company’s previous credits include Miss Me? with Miquita Oliver and Jordan Stephens, Dig It with Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball, Dua Lipa: At Your Service, political podcast Political Currency and the Edinburgh TV Awards-winning Game’s Gone: The Steve Bracknall Podcast.

With a rotating line-up of guests, candid conversations and a healthy dose of Sunday-night existential dread, The Sunday Scaries with Bash Croft is hoping to make the transition from weekend to working week a little easier.

The Sunday Scaries with Bash Croft launches Sunday 1 November at 12am GMT, with new episodes arriving weekly.
