Malec have always been the most talked about couple in the Shadowhunters world, whether it be from the TV show or from the books. Magnus falls for Alec the second he lays eyes on him, whilst Alec took a little more convincing. Magnus was incredibly open to Alec and made sure that his feelings were expressed towards Alec as much as possible, Alec however, wasn’t as open and struggled to understand who he truly was.
When Shadowhunters season one finished, Alec had finally admitted his true feelings, which ended up in the most wonderful kiss a TV show could possibly have given us and they were already planning their very first date! Nothing more happened unfortunately, but the good news? They’re most likely saving it all for season 2!
This sneak peek of Magnus and Alec picks up just moments after when Jace decided to leave his family and Clary behind for his father, who he at the time, thought had passed away all those years ago.
Todd Slavkin spoke specifically about what’s in store for Malec in season 2, “Because of the complications in the end of season 1 and Jace now being gone, we get to really show the evolution of the relationship from the beginning. They’ve got to learn to know each other and we get to follow that path. They’re from two different worlds – one’s a warlock, one’s a shadowhunter. One is super experienced and has lived for centuries and has bedded many, many, many men and women, and here’s Alec, who is a young lad who’s just leaping in to the world of relationships. We thought it was great in season 1, and it’s a relationship that we’re deeply invested in and has such interesting potential.”
We’re looking forward to seeing this relationship blossom more and more over the next season!
