From playing the main stage at Fusion Festival, releasing their single and spending days in the studio, Club Drive have had an amazing few months. They recently released their new single, ‘International’ which you can have a little listen to down below, and as it was featured as BBC Introducing’s Track of the week, you know it’s 100% worth a listen.
We caught up with the band after their Fusion Festival performance – here’s what they had to say.
CM: Hello boys! How are you?
CD: Hey, We’re Great thanks!
CM: So you just played the main stage at this year’s Fusion Festival – what was that like for you?!
CD: Amazing.. Such a good crowd and the atmosphere this year is great. They were so up for it!
CM: Yeah we were sat in the crowd watching and the response looked incredible! Are your fans always this mental?!
CD: Haha, they certainly can be – but I think there’s something about a festival that brings out that side of people when everyone is really up for a great weekend and a good line up it’s always nice to go out and see so many people ready to give it their all.
CM: So if you each had to describe your fans in one word what would you say?
CD: Amazing. Dedicated. Energetic!
CM: Let’s talk about your new single International – can you tell us a bit about it?
CD: Sure, we’re really pleased that it’s out now and the response to it has been so much better than we could have ever hoped for. It’s one of our favourites to play live and we’ve recently changed our set round a bit so that we end on it as it always seems to get people moving. So made sense for us to end on a high. Seemed to go down really well today.
CM: So what was the inspiration behind your single?
CD: A number of things really, it’s based on personal experiences… but the message behind it is very much that it doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, what age or race you are .. Love is something that everyone can communicate with and it’s something we all need!
CM: What are your plans for the rest of this year?
CD: A LOT! We’ve got our last festival of the year at Wilkestock, then we head straight into the studio to work on our debut album which we’re really excited about. There’s been a lot of question around when we’ll do an album. We’ve wanted to wait for the right time and now definitely feels like that time. Post writing, we’ll be out playing more shows and possibly have some new songs for everyone to hear very soon too!
