Former American Idol contestant Jerome Bell has released two brand new single’s ‘Burn Easy’, and ‘Helpless’. The Texas born RnB singer’s ‘Burn Easy’ release is a rhythmic, Caribbean themed summer-hit, and the music video brings all the summer vibes.

Here we speak exclusively to the rising star about his American Idol experience, new single releases, dream collaborations and much more.

Growing up was music always your main passion?
ALWAYS! As far back as I can remember I have always wanted to sing and that was around 3 years old.

So, you’ve you always known you wanted to pursue music as a career?
Yes, I started to seriously pursue music from the age of 12.

Are your family supportive of your music career?
My family has been the absolute BEST when it comes to the love and support they have shown me. They’ve been there for me through my trials and my triumphs! They encourage me always!

What made you want to enter American Idol when you did?
My friend Danny actually convinced me to fly to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to audition for the show. I’m glad that I did!

How would you describe your American Idol experience?
My American Idol experience was amazing! I met so many talented people and it never felt like a competition because everyone was so different. It was great to see fellow singers supporting each other! My journey on the show was a fun ride and I have NO regrets.

What advice would you give to anyone entering the show?
I would say ALWAYS go with your initial instincts and don’t get distracted by the other contestants. Know that you are different and special in your own way (unless you truly CAN’T sing). I always went with my instincts and that is why when I was eliminated I had no regrets or hard feelings.

    Who are your musical icons?
Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Luther Vandross, Steven Tyler… Basically all of the old school powerhouse vocalists! I listen to so many genres of music this list could go on and on.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?
Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Pharrell, and CeeLo Green. In no particular order.

What is the inspiration behind your new single’s ‘Burn Easy’ and ‘Helpless?
‘Burn Easy’ was written by a very talented guy named Josh Tobias. It’s definitely a Summer jam. ‘Helpless’ on the other hand is a completely opposite feel. I wrote this song a few years ago and wasn’t fully comfortable with it until I collaborated with producer The Space 9 (GC Castillo). The song basically is a story about two people meeting but being in totally different places emotionally.

What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?
I hope to continue traveling the world singing my own music!
