Jordan Comolli, an upcoming DJ and producer, has already started captivating music fans around the world with his unique bass sound and style of trap. After reaching millions of plays on Soundcloud and views on YouTube, Comolli has effortlessly been on the radar of countless people, including celebrities and other musicians such as Eminem, and continues gaining new fans by the minute.
In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, the ‘Quake’ producer opened up about his career thus far and what may be in store for the future.
How did you first get started with music?
Funny story! I’ve always loved music but I fell into making it by complete accident. I was finishing my final exams in high school [and] deciding which college to go to. I had no idea what to do in the next chapter of my life and thought maybe a music college would be fun and help me buy time to make an ultimate decision. I found myself falling in love with producing more and more. I started staying later after classes ended to work on stuff [and] booking extra time in studios. I would even carry on until the early hours of the morning once I got home. I then started releasing stuff on SoundCloud and started to gain attention. I decided to drop out half way through my second year to focus on my music full-time and I never looked back. Now we’re here!
What artists or bands did you listen to growing up and how do you think that impacted your sound as a DJ and producer?
I’ve definitely never stuck to one artist or band for too long as I love constantly searching for a new sound. But I grew listening to like likes of Backstreet Boys, BUSTED, McFly… all the way to Lil Jon, Bun B, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, etc. I would definitely say Lil Jon impacted my sound as a producer for sure. When he started making “Crunk Music,” I was mind blown by how hype it was and how the production sounded. He’s definitely a huge pioneer in the producer industry [and] hard to not call him one with all of the huge hits he’s been involved with or produced.

How do you think the world of sound plays a part in your personality?
Very interesting question. I think it plays a part in how curious and questionable I am with a lot of things such as interior design, architecture and fashion. As I’m always curious and questioning how things are made and how sound can enhance a persons visual experience, especially in production with sound design and how certain effects are used.
When you’re not making music, what else do you like to do during your free time?
Definitely relaxing. I try to get outside as much as I can. Socializing with friends, going out for food, exercising, doing activities, etc. I think its very important to go outside and do things…especially when you’ve been producing a while and cooped up inside long days/hours. But if theres not much to do, I always resort to playing long hours of PS4. Huge gamer over here!
What is the one thing that you love most about your fans?
Their patience, loyalty and commitment has been incredible. I’ve had a very slow year without releases until now because of a few legal issues, management issues and sadly losing my mother on July 28th which set me back a bit. They’ve been nothing but understanding and supportive through it all, so that’s why I’m coming back stronger than ever with a new single called ‘BILL$’ out on September 26th, followed another single [and] then finally a 5 track EP by the end of October.

For listeners who want to get to know you more, is there anything that they would not already know like a fun fact or aspect of your life that wouldn’t be found easily?
Although I’m from the UK, I actually lived in the U.S. for years & played football and basketball… NOT soccer. I also played Space Jam Festival in Thailand with Marshmello, JAUZ, Slushii & Headhunterz.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Skrillex, TroyBoi, Ekali, Diplo, JAUZ, NGHTMRE and Medasin for sure.
What can you tease about your upcoming music?
It’s all PACKED with high energy. From euphoric/melodic stuff to heavy headbanging bass music, I made sure to deliver on all aspects with my upcoming EP ‘Prosper.’ I can’t wait for you all to hear it. [It’s] definitely my best work yet.
