In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Klingande opened up about his brand new album, upcoming tour and more.
What can you tell us about your debut album, titled The Album?
This project has been a long time in the making. I’ve always wanted to create a full-length album, but I didn’t want to do 3 singles and fill the rest with lower quality songs. I really wanted to focus and take my time with every song. That’s why last year I asked my team to change my touring schedule and I dedicated weeks to production and studio sessions. I’m really proud of the result and I hope my fans are too.
What would you say is that project’s theme or overall message?
The album is about universal themes of love, friendship and feelings. This wasn’t my intention originally, but I think that’s what touches me in songs, and that’s also what I want to inspire with my productions. My music is all about good vibes and passion for the people you love.
Why did you decide to make the LP two sided?
The first part of the album is all of the new songs I’ve made over the last 18 months, and the second part is a compilation of my previous singles. I wanted to offer fans an opportunity to have my entire catalog over the years available in one piece.
What artists or bands influenced your sound for this specific body of work?
I’m very influenced by all music around me from pop-rock bands like Coldplay to artists in my scene like Robin Schulz, Lost Frequencies and Kygo. It’s a mix of everything I like, with my specialty in music production which involves working with acoustic instruments as much as possible. It’s a real mix between house and pop music.
What was your favorite song to record from The Album?
It’s very difficult for me to choose, but I think my favorite is “Messiah.” The first time I heard the song from Bright Sparks, I immediately fell in love with it. I wanted to do something different than people were used to, so I took some risks with the production. It has a grittier, more melancholic feel than my other songs. I really love this track and the music video we made perfectly captures the message behind the lyrics.
Your fans are always very excited to hear your new music and show endless support on social media. What do you love most about them and do you have a message for new fans?
Absolutely and I’m very grateful for that. I have some fans who have been following me for years, and new fans coming from all over the world. For my oldest fans who are always asking about the saxophone, I just want to say the sax is back on the album and I’ve put a little spin on it. For the new fans, I hope you guys love the music and the modern elements I put into it!
Speaking of fans, what can your supporters look forward to following the release of the album?
After the album release, I’ll be back on tour in 2020. I’m going to the US and Mexico in March, working on an Asia tour in April and May, then some big festivals in Europe. I’ll be traveling a lot next year to meet fans and play the album live for them!
