Lucy Neville is a super exciting rising talent from Sydney, Australia. The talented musician recently released her brand new single titled ‘Ransom‘ which is far receiving mass critical acclaim.
Here we speak exclusively to Lucy Neville about ‘Ransom’, album plans, and 2018 career goals;
How excited are you about the release of your new single Ransom?
Oh My Gosh! I’m truly SO excited. It’s been quite some time since I’ve released any new music and I couldn’t be more ready.
How would you describe the overall sound of the single?
The overall sound of ‘Ransom’ is definitely a continuation of my electro/etherial-pop sound. You can hear homages to my previous songs in the sounds and production but there’s also a new and current pop feel to it!
What inspired the single?
The single was inspired by the initial stages of a budding relationship. Falling in lust and then falling in love, all of your emotions intensified to the highest level. It’s about being in the now, or else the never, and being open to letting love grow.
What do you hope listeners take from your music?
I hope that in some way, listeners will be able to relate and It allow my music to put a smile on their face. Perhaps they will hear Ransom and be taken back to those early stages in a relationship of their own…or they can just dance along with me!
Can we expect a music video for the track soon?
There will be a lyric video! It has been masterfully created by my sister/artistic genius Kate Neville. I can’t wait for you guys to see it. The time and expertise that went into this sketch/animation style video is incredible!
Do you have any plans to release an album this year?
Maybe..maybe not! It all depends on what happens after ‘Ransom’! It’s so hard to plan so far ahead in the industry at the moment! For now, it will be singles but I hope that an album is on the cards sooner rather than later!
Will you be touring soon?
Oh, I really hope so! I have been desperately waiting to be touring and playing my music live to my listeners all around the world. As a small artist, all of the funding comes from our own pockets which often is the limiting factor, but it is my ultimate dream to be travelling and touring! Will I see you there?
Is there a particular message that you always try to get across via your music?
I don’t think I have ever particularly focused on one single message, it has always been different aspects of love and life but there will always be my core values. Being strong, powerful and passionate. I always try to be as honest as I can in my writing as I believe that is what connects me on a deeper level to my listeners.
What are your 2018 goals?
My 2018 goals are to have a blast and enjoy this wild rollercoaster ride. I have never been able to predict anything that has come my way in this industry but that’s all part of the fun! I will be writing and making music all year, as per always, but my goals for every year are to be happy and healthy and to practice kindness.
