    EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Sam Way

28-year-old Sam Way is best known for being a hugely successful model with campaigns for top brands including the likes of Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, and Chanel. But the hunky Brit has now changed lanes and become a successful musician.

He recently released his fantastic new single ‘Last Page‘ along with the official music video.

And now Sam Way talks exclusively to us at Celeb Mix about his modelling career, what inspired him to start a singing career, his 2017 tour plans, and much, much more.

    Hi Sam.

Hey guys and readers at Celeb Mix.

So you grew up in a musical household so how did you get into modelling?

Well…..you know it was never something I thought I would be doing. The story goes like this – I was just up in London with my mum and my best mate, 16 years old, wandering around Oxford St, feeling a little bit overwhelmed by the size of the TOPMAN at Oxford circus and this guy approaches me and tells me he’s scouting for new models for a company called Models1. That was the beginning – It was an opportunity, something I had never even considered as a viable career, but something I threw myself at full time when I finished my A-levels. The first major brand I shot for was TOPMAN, funnily enough.

And now your music career is taking off so will your modelling career be taking a back seat?

I feel things will always ebb and flow. The focus this last two years has been much more on music, but more and more I see brands wanting to work with people with a public image, it’s weird, the modelling game has changed so much, so I think, though music is what I would love to be doing full time, both careers seem to be tying together somehow.

Do you feel that you will soon become better known for your singing rather than modelling?
I just have this feeling in my gut….can’t explain it…that soon…that might be the case. Who knows male models anyway…not many of us become household names…I mean I’m struggling to name more than a handful that have that sort of status… To the reader – How many do you know? ‘ll start you off. 1) David Gandy…. 2) ??? ;)

What or who inspired you to start performing?

This is a funny one – I had just started songwriting, it was a purely personal thing back then, and my playing guitar was pretty basic too. I was taken to my first open mic by a friend who insisted that I play, despite me being s**t scared. I got up there, a bag of nerves, and sung my songs. When I got offstage, I was filled with this funny feeling, it was a good one though, and I decided that the very next day I would go to Denmark St in London, buy the most expensive guitar I could afford – so I was already heavily invested – and play another gig as soon as possible. I named that guitar – my first proper full size guitar – I was playing on a travel guitar before that – Heather, after the friend who made me get up there in the first place. Nice one Heather.

What is the inspiration behind your new single ‘Last Page’?

It’s a co-write between me and the lead singer of the Arcaves – Billy Wright, we were both going through respective relationship woes at the time, and channelled that into the song. When we stumbled upon this idea of the ‘Last Page’ we knew we had the core of the song right there. Nice one Billy.

Describe your sound in three words?

That is a really really hard one…but ‘Last Page’, the new single is, all sorts of; EPIC. INDIE. POP

You have also recently announced a tour of Turkey for 2017, will you also be touring the UK soon?

I think the UK tour will coincide with the EP release, so in March [2017] – I cannot wait!!!

How excited are you to hit the road in 2017?

So. Damn. Excited. (Actually just did a little bum wiggle dance sat here at my laptop..LOL)

Can fans also expect an album from you soon?

I’m going to take my time with that one. So maybe not till next year.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?

    Major Lazer.

And what music in the charts are you enjoying at the moment?

I don’t really listen to the charts – my discover weekly on Spotify seems to nail my taste every single time.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, Sam.

Thanks for your questions guys, and readers for taking the time to step into my world a little.
