Tyler Gomez, rising pop singer and social media influencer, is taking over both social media and streaming platforms with his impressive vocals and quality content. He first began his career as a recording artist with his single ‘Somebody,’ and continued to gain more fans following the release of his other singles afterwards. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Gomez opened up about social media, his music and more.
What first interested you in making your own music?
I have always been interested in music. I started by learning how to play the guitar in second grade. I would play at school talent shows and in the church choir every week. I would [also] write instrumentals and play them during the mass. Since then, I started getting into singing and even music production. I just really love the whole process of making a song. It’s something that I genuinely love.
Is it difficult to balance being both a social media influencer and singer?
Not really! I really enjoy both, so it doesn’t seem like work.
What can you tell us about your latest single that came out earlier this year titled ‘Nervous’ and its meaning?
‘Nervous’ is about a special someone who gives you butterflies. I’m sure everyone knows what it’s like to be around someone that you like so much that just being around them makes you get tongue tied and a little anxious, but in a good way. I think it’s really cute whenever this happens! Especially when they get nervous too.
Do you have any more music set to be released in 2019?
Yes!! I [just] released a new song on May 23rd! I’m super excited to be releasing this song. I really enjoyed recording [it] and am super happy with the way it came out. It’s titled ‘They Won’t Stop Us Now’ and will be released on YouTube as well as all [of] the major streaming platforms, so Spotify, iTunes, Google, Amazon Music, etc.
Going back to social media, what would you say is your favorite platform to connect with your fans and why?
I would say Instagram is my favorite for actually being able to talk with everyone. A lot of them will DM me and add me in their group chats! I just always try and respond when I have time throughout the day.
When you’re not making music, what else do you like to do for fun?
I love working out, shopping, and watching YouTube. I’m definitely more of a home body, so I [would] much rather stay at home and watch a YouTube video or a movie than actually go out to the movies.
If you could spread one message to new fans about your personal brand, how would you briefly summarize it?
Love. In one word: love. If I were to get one message across to people, I would want to spread a message of love and positivity. I believe that we are all equal no matter who we love, what gender we identify as, the color of our skin, how we talk or dress, etc. I just feel that we should all be treated with the same love and respect that we would give to a friend or family member or that we would want to receive ourselves.
What can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
More music! I’m super excited to be releasing more music, more videos, and more content!!
