Caroline Romano is a fast rising teen pop sensation whose musical output has been likened to Lorde’s early releases. In her career so far, Romano has already shared the stage with worldwide superstars such as Daya and Shawn Mendes, and her last release ‘Ready’ hit the Top 3 on Radio Disney’s Top 30 Chart.
Now, Caroline Romano is back with her brand new single ‘Come With Me’. Here we speak to the rising star to discuss her new music, working with Shawn Mendes, Lorde comparisons, and much more:
Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind your new single ‘Come With Me’?
A lot of the songs I write come from a place of pure imagination. I’m sure a lot of people have seen a guy with a girl who doesn’t treat him quite right. I’ve definitely witnessed a few of these relationships. It’s always been tempting to me to just walk up to the guy and say, “Hey, she’s not right for you. Come with me instead!” Of course, I’ve never actually confronted a guy like that in one of those situations, but that’s where the beauty of songwriting comes in. It’s so fun to play out scenarios in my head and make them into a song. I think that’s one reason “Come With Me” is super relatable!
How did you approach the writing process for this track?
While I do write a lot of my songs by myself, I wrote “Come With Me” in Nashville with a friend of mine. We were just hanging out and talking about life and different types of relationships. I find that the writing process is easier when everyone’s having fun and hanging out. That’s what happened with “Come With Me,” and that’s why I think it turned out to be such a fun song.
Your music has been likened to early day Lorde, how does that make you feel?
I have always been a huge fan of Lorde, so to have my music likened to her work is truly an honor. I remember hearing “Royals” for the first time and playing it on repeat for months. She’s always been a huge inspiration of mine.
You have already shared the stage with superstars such as Daya and Shawn Mendes, what were those experiences like?
I’ve been so blessed to open for some amazing artists in my time, and I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences. Everyone has always been so kind to me, and it was pretty crazy to play on the same stage as artists I’ve looked up to for so long!
What would you say performing with these world renowned artists has taught you?
I’d say performing with these artists has taught me a sense of perspective. I’ve had the opportunity to see their careers grow so much from the times I played with them. It shows that success can take years of hard work, and it’s rarely an “overnight sensation” incident, despite what it might look like to the rest of the world.
With your new single, what do you hope fans take from the track?
I always hope that those listening to my music relate to the message of the song. “Come With Me” is just a really fun track that I hope people will sing along to. It’s always nice to feel like you’re not the only one who thinks a certain way. I’m hoping people will hear “Come With Me” and think of the person they wish they could say those things to!
Do you plan on releasing a full length album soon?
A full length album is definitely a goal of mine, and I’ve been working incredibly hard on creating music that I’m proud of. I’m very excited to share songs that contain little pieces of me with the rest of the world.
Looking ahead what are your main goals for 2019?
I’m super excited for 2019 because I plan on releasing lots of new music. I’m also hoping to start playing a lot more live shows. I’m going to work harder than ever in 2019, and I can’t wait to see what the year holds.
