Fast rising RnB sensation Cha;dy has wowed fans and critics alike with the release of her brand new single ‘Like A Boi’. The infectious hit has been taken off the French born, London based artist’s upcoming EP which will drop later this year.

Here we chat exclusively to Cha;dy to discuss her new single, musical inspirations, touring plans and more:
Growing up who inspired your love of music?
I remember I used to get obsessed with movie soundtracks, I think that’s how I would discover new music back in the day (a time without the internet!) So I would go to the public library with my mum to find the CD of the movie soundtracks we watched on the weekend. A movie in particular is still stuck in my mind: it was Remember The Titans, the soundtrack included lots of Motown classics, and that’s probably where my love for Soul music came from.
Who are your all time musical heroes?
So many but on the top of my head right now, I would say: Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson… People that have left an incredible legacy. I love these artists because of the stories they tell, they’re iconic songs, great songwriting…
Can you walk us through the inspiration behind your new single ‘Like A Boi’?
I wrote this song after something a guy said to me really stuck in my head. We were seeing each other and he said that I was behaving ‘like a boy’, I guess because he was insecure about our relationship. It bothered me to hear that I was behaving like a man because I didn’t need to be reassured by him all the time, as if being confident was a man’s right and not a woman’s.
What do you hope fans take from the track?
This track is really important to me because it speaks out for female empowerment. It’s OK to be confident, to be yourself and being unapologetic about it.
How would you describe your overall sound to new listeners?
I would say it’s alternative r&b, a mix of soul, pop and jazz influenced spiced with Caribbean flavours.
Can we expect an album from you soon?
I will have more singles on the way for sure and a 2nd EP eventually.
Do you have any touring plans lined up?
I actually just came back from New York where I got to perform at a couple of places and got an incredible welcome, but I want to do a European tour very soon, it’s still in the process.
What are your long-term career goals?
Travel the world to share my songs with people, to soothe their hearts and entertain them!
