Henley are a brother-sister country music duo from Georgia. However despite playing musical instruments and singing from a young age the pair didn’t start writing together until they attended college in Denton, Texas.

Since then it has been non stop writing, playing, laughing and making great memories all the while trying to make in Nashville AKA Music City.

    Here we speak exclusively to Henley to discuss their new single, country music inspirations, future plans and much, much more;

Growing up who inspired your love of music?

Our mom and dad. We grew up listening to them play in a band together, and it instantly sparked our interest in music. We started playing and recording with them at a very young age.

When did you decide to start the band?

We decided to start Henley when we were attending college in Denton, Texas. Shea had recently graduated, and Sayre was attending UNT when we first started writing country music together. It was around the end of 2010.

Do you feel your sibling bond helps create your sound?

Yes, definitely. There is something so natural about singing with your family.

Being brother and sister do you find it easier or harder to make musical decisions than you think you would if you weren’t related?

We are very fortunate to have a tight bond, and we very rarely argue. We would probably say it is easier, because we are so close it easy to open and honest about how we feel about the way things sound, etc.

How would you describe your own sound?

A sum of our influences! Country, A Little Rock n roll, a little pop, and a whole lot of Ga and Tx.

You recently made your debuted new music at Whiskey Jam, how much fun was that?

It was actually our third time playing Whiskey Jam! It was a blast as usual! This time felt a little different though because we were debuting some new music we are SUPER proud of, and it seemed to show in our performance! We got a lot of cool compliments on the songs that night.

Can you talk us through the inspiration behind your new single I Forgot About You?

Our friend Gary came up with the hook idea, and we instantly all related. We have both had past relationships where it seemed like no matter how many times you tell them to buzz off they keep coming back, and trying to remind you of how things used to be. We’ve made jokes that it was mostly inspired by one of Shea’s exes, but we won’t share any names.

Can we expect an album from you soon?

We aren’t sure when we will release a full length album, but we definitely have an EP in the works! We hope to release it later this year.

Do you have any touring plans lined up?

We are working on some touring dates currently. Hoping to do some shows this summer and fall around the U.S. Our next show is during CMA Fest at Puckett’s on 5th and Church! It will be on Friday, June 8th at 7pm.

What are your long term career goals?

Getting to share our music with the world is definitely our end goal. We hope with that we can sign a record deal, and go on tour with some of the artists we look up to and eventually headline our own tour.
