Jimi Noel is a fast rising and exciting RnB artist coming out of Brooklyn. Next Friday (November 30th) he releases his eagerly anticipated new EP ‘Stages’. The record brings together witty lyrics, velvety vocals, and elements of R&B, pop, hip hop, alternative, and electronica from several eras to create a truly unique sound.
Here we speak exclusively to Jimi Noel to discuss his upcoming EP, and 2019 plans:
Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind your EP Stages?
Stages is inspired by the process of life, love and pain.
The title suggests we can expect to hear your journey via song, is that correct?
The title is definitely connected to the motions that come with my story.
What are you hoping fans take from the record?
I would love fans to connect with each record (even if it’s one) with something they can identify with.
How did you approach the writing process for this project?
I wrote this whole project in a kitchen. It was all spread out with piecing things together because I was going through these moments in real-time.
Which song are you most excited for the fans to hear?
I want to say ‘Lost’ because there was a lot of emotion behind that record and overtime I hear it hits home. But I would also say ‘Maze’ because it’s showing a lyrical side of me that people haven’t heard from me.
Which songs were the easiest and most difficult to write?
The easiest song would have to be ‘LRYN’. Everything was clicking for me and took maybe 20-30 minutes to write. And the creating process in the studio was a great vibe. ‘Lost’ was difficult to write at an emotional standpoint because it was a tough time for me with love and life in general.
Can we expect to see you touring your new music?
Nothing is set at the moment but I would love to even if it’s with another artist.
What are your 2019 plans looking like?
2019 you can expect a lot more music. Branching off creatively into something that is connected to this project. I don’t want to give it away but something I’m definitely excited about.
