Louis Ray is an exciting London based talent who is making a name for himself as one of our most talented composers and producers. He is currently making waves with his debut single ‘Dancing With Colours’.
Here we speak exclusively to Louis Ray to discuss his new track, musical heroes, upcoming plans and more:
Growing up who inspired your love of music?
I would have to say that my mum was my biggest inspiration growing up since she is one of these people that has the ability to just pick up any instrument and play. Falling asleep to her playing the piano downstairs definitely ingrained the love for music in me.
When did you first decide to pursue music as a career?
Probably when I got my 1st miniature drum kit when I was about 3. Then my career path was probably confirmed when I was around 9 and decided to start a band called The SkittleZ. We were going to be rockstars! (Sadly for everyone the SkittleZ are not still together)
Who are your all time musical heroes?
In no particular order, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Stevie Nicks, Hans Zimmer, John Williams.
How would you describe the overall vibe of your music?
Easy-listening
How did you first get into producing and composing?
I can’t remember the exact age but there was a point where the tune I was humming or playing on repeat in my head hadn’t been written yet and that’s when I knew I needed to work out how to get all of these ideas out.
What inspired your debut single ‘Dancing With Colours’?
Except for being inspired by a girl. I think it’s inspired by the 1 in a million person who is the only one smiling on the tube at 7am or the one that is dancing in a park to no music. The colourful individual that dances like no one is watching.

Can you tell us a little about the vocalist featured on the track?
She’s is a great mate of mine called Tamzene. She’s a very talented song writer and vocalist and I was lucky when she agreed to help me out with some lyrics and sing on the track!
What do you hope fans take from the song?
I hope it is a song that people can listen to in any type of environment and it fits with whatever mood they may be in.
Can we expect a full length album from you soon?
It’s possible. This is only the beginning.
Do you currently have any touring plans lined up?
Not currently. But hopefully not too far off.
What are your long term career goals?
I really just want to work with as many other like-minded creatives to write music that will hopefully inspire others.
