If you have yet to hear music from WYO, you may be missing out on your new favorite band and their songs made for long car rides and more. Members of WYO include frontman Andy Sorge and multi-instrumentalist Scott McKay Gibson who have recently released their new single “Don’t Stop” as well as its Western style music video. This is the third single off of the band’s upcoming sophomore album Changes which will be out May 31st.
In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Scott McKay Gibson of WYO opened up about the music video for “Don’t Stop,” what fans can look forward to and more.
How did WYO originally form?
Andy and I began composing and recording music together for film and video several years ago in Wyoming. In between projects, we would work on original material that eventually grew into us forming WYO. We used that time to experiment and develop our sound, taking inspiration from the mountains around us as we creatively explored.
What can you tell us about your latest single “Don’t Stop” and its message?
“Don’t Stop” is about not giving up on what you believe in in spite of what may be in your way—whether that’s pressure from society, friends, or family—to stay true to yourself in your passions and relationships.
What was it like to film the music video?
Intense! We spent long days and nights working with the most talented of people in the most beautiful of settings: the mountains of Wyoming. The animals in the video (and their human counterparts) were equally entertaining to work with. Behind the scenes, we had more curious animals (cats, a pig and and a goat) following us around and watching the action from the sidelines.
Your sophomore album Changes comes out at the end of May! What can fans expect from that body of work?
Expect more music that’s alive and vibrant, with highs and depths that take you on a journey with us.
What do you want new fans to know about WYO?
We thank all of our fans old and new for their support, listening to our music and coming out to our shows! We [as WYO] love being on stage, connecting with the crowd and seeing everyone singing, dancing and having a good time. That’s what it’s all about at the end of the day. Shout out to all the WYO Warriors out there. We love connecting with fans on social media too. Have a question for us? Ask us anything on Instagram and Facebook (@wyotheband).
Do you have any goals for the rest of 2019?
We are excited to play in more cities, and start working on more new music for another album. We’ve been hard at work on a lot of new video content for the album release and there’s much more in store.
What can fans look forward to in the near or distant future?
We have another music video in the pipeline for this record but my lips are sealed about the details. If you want to celebrate our album release with us we have two album release shows: one in San Diego at Belly Up on May 22nd and one in Los Angeles at The Satellite on May 30th.
